Dr. Guylene Proulx Scholarship Award
It is our great pleasure to announce that this year's winner of the Dr. Guylène Proulx Memorial Scholarship is Mr. James Eduful.
James is enrolled in the Fire Protection Masters program at Carleton University. His involvement in research projects along with his participation in student associations and leadership training programs embody the spirit in which the scholarship is awarded.
Please join us in congratulating Mr. Eduful.
Two years ago, LRI created a scholarship in honour of Dr. Guylène Proulx. Each year we award a Masters, or Doctoral candidate in fire protection engineering at Carleton University, in Ottawa.
Dr. Proulx was a researcher with the National Research Council and since 1992 was the manager of the Human Factors project within the Fire Research Program at the Institute for Research in Construction. Dr. Proulx was considered by her peers to be one of, if not the leading expert in the world, in the field of human behaviour in fires. She was posthumously named to the Order of Canada in January 2010.

CFSA Annual Education Forum
The Candian Fire Safety Association will be holding it's annual Education Forum on April 4th, 2012 in Woodbridge Ontario. The title of this years forum is "It's In the Codes."
LRI team members Lisa Miller and Michael Power will be discussing key design and fire safety planning requirements for Care occupancies. As a member of the LRI Code Team, Lisa will address the construction features of Care occupancies, while Michael will address the fire safety planning requirements, including the responsibilities of supervisory staff. It's sure to be an informative and lively discussion.

LRI and the PAN-AM Games
LRI is proud to be part of the EllisDon construction team tasked with the design and build of the 2015 Pan Am Games athletes village! The large scale project is comprised of 8 city blocks of residential and multi-use buildings located at the West Donlands in Toronto, ON. LRI will be providing Building and Fire Code consultation services over the course of the project.
